Chichicastenango
Chichicastenango is a small and stucco-white town, lying on the crests of mountaintops at an altitude of 1,965 meters. It is located about 140 km and 2-3 hours drive northwest of Guatemala City and is home to what is surely the most colorful native market in North and Central America, perhaps in all the Americas.
Chichicastenango has a lot to offer, but one thing it doesn't offer much of is a nightlife. If a great place to have some drinks and get to know some new people is your goal, you may want to make Chichi a day trip.
Sit above the crowds and watch the market goers from La Villa de los Confrades, a great "typical" restaurant. Portions are huge and cheap (unfinishable breakfast for under $5) and delicious to boot.
